Of course, an accident is very rare if the equipment is used in the correct manner with machinery undergoing intensive and multiple safety testing. One statistic that unfortunately suffered from an incident involving a power tool is veteran funny man and magician, Paul Daniels.

The 73-year-old was doing DIY at his home in Berkshire when the accident happened involving a circular saw. The celebrity said that he had managed to cut a finger off in the accident which was his own fault. Unfortunately, the magician will not be able to magic his finger back this time as it was a complete accident, one that he hopes will not rub off on his act.

The star explained that the accident was endured when he was creating new props for his next tour. He said he has feared for his career but has since had a quick and healthy recovery which means he can continue on with his upcoming tour.

Taking care when at home or even at work is very important and there are tools which make being safe a lot easier. For example, the Makita LH1040 Table/Mitre Saw 260mm is portable and perfect for general use and in your home workshop. It also has a sturdy cast aluminium table which means it will restrict the movement and make it is virtually impossible to cause damage to you.

Paul Daniels has learnt the lesson for you already so make the switch to a better, safer power tool and make sure you are not one of the minorities that suffer from one of these injuries. To ensure you undergo every safety measure you must read the instructions before use. It may sound patronising but it is vital for your own safety.
